LOCATION: 4900 Neo Parkway, Garfield Hts., OH 44128 

JOB SUMMARY:

The purpose of a Commercial Electric Technician is to install, maintain, and repair electrical systems in residential buildings using blueprints, electrical codes, and other drawings to troubleshoot problems, and make repairs while managing small crews and projects.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Develops and nurtures client relations according to Tri-County Electric’s core principles and values.

• Identifies materials needed for commercial projects.

• Identifies, understands, and plans for deliveries and lead times that will affect the project schedule.

• Diagnoses and troubleshoots faulty wiring and test circuitry.

• Diagnoses and resolves problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment using testing instruments and equipment.

• Installs main distribution and panels with full comprehension.

• Holds an understanding of basic control wiring skills.

• Identifies, understands, and follows through with all aspects of the issues that arise on the project.

• Understands how to bend and install all types of conduit.

• Communicates construction schedule as it pertains to closing with the client.

• Works as a team to develop, implement, follow through with, and continue to improve upon procedures of the commercial department.

• Maintains an effective relationship with the client, coworkers, vendors, suppliers, subcontractors, customers, public officials, and trade organizations.

• Comprehends technical drawings with a strong understanding of blueprints.

• Ensures that work is being performed according to scope and building codes.

• Performs all other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Education and Experience - High School Diploma (or GED or High School Equivalence Certificate); Completion of an Apprentice School or 7,500 hours of Commercial Electrical experience is required.

• Language Skills – Ability to follow verbal and written work instructions. Ability to read, analyze, and interpret periodicals, journals, reports, design documents, blueprints, manuals, accounting policies/procedures, and legal documents. Ability to understand business letters, proposals, summaries, organized spreadsheets, reports using procedural formats. Ability to effectively present information to management, public groups, and/or board of directors. Ability to interact clearly and effectively, in both written and oral communication with supervisors and other staff members. Ability to prepare business letters, proposals, summaries, organized spreadsheets, reports using procedural formats, and conforming to all punctuation, grammar, diction, and style.

• Mathematical Skills –Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.

• Computer Skills - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have the ability to use job costing and project management systems. This role requires an average knowledge of Microsoft Office.

• Other Qualifications – Basic knowledge of the NEC and Ohio revisions. Proficient understanding of blueprints. Occasional travel to job sites as needed. A valid driver’s license is required when traveling to job sites.

Standard operating procedures, safety work rules and good general manufacturing practices are followed on a daily basis.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this job, the individual is constantly moving about at the job site. They frequently move about and position themselves inside tight and cramped spaces. They occasionally operate a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, fax machine, and computer. They must be able to exchange accurate information with customers and others in the office while interacting. The employee must regularly move up to 50 pounds and occasionally move up to 100 pounds. The individual must be capable of reviewing their work for errors and making adjustments as necessary.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

The individual will be exposed to various different environments from indoors to outdoors depending on the job site. Individuals will be exposed to warm and cold temperatures based on the season. The individual may be exposed to loud machinery or equipment. Due to the risk of electrical hazards while installing or servicing, additional personal protective equipment and procedures may need to be followed.
